Nebraska Conservation Education

Nebraska Conservation EducationPurpose

The purpose of NCEF’s Common Ground Program is to build a statewide infrastructure of Nebraskans who care deeply about conservation and who are knowledgeable about how to manage Nebraska’s natural resources. AmeriCorps members serving with the Common Ground Program will build local capacity to improve environmental stewardship in Nebraska by increasing knowledge of and concern for the most important conservation issues facing our state. AmeriCorps members will recruit, coach, and support local community volunteers in implementing conservation projects, and build partnerships between conservation professionals, local and state government, and fellow community members. This is a statewide program, with ten AmeriCorps members paired off into five regions: Southeast Nebraska, Northeast Nebraska, Central Nebraska, Southwest Nebraska, and the Nebraska Panhandle.
