National Preparedness Monthis sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Ready Campaign each September to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities.

2009 is the 3rd year ServeNebraska has entered into a partnership with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletic Department to promote National Preparedness Month at the following athletic contests featuring sold-out crowds and nationally ranked Husker teams. For both events a half page ad in the game program – donated by the Nebraska Athletic Department - promotes ServeNebraska and the Citizen Corps preparedness program.

Women’s Volleyball: Nebraska Volleyball vs. Creighton University at the Coliseum (September 1)
Football: Nebraska vs. New Mexico State at Memorial Stadium (September 12).

National Preparedness Month will focus on important preparedness steps including:

  • Get an Emergency Supply Kit
  • Make a Family Emergency Plan
  • Be Informed
  • Get Involved
