CITIZEN CORPS PROGRAM

This year the 8 Citizen Corps Regions, located throughout Nebraska, will be focusing on the following goals:

  • Developing plans to manage spontaneous volunteers at the scene of a disaster
  • Developing and implementing plans to assist disabled, non-English speaking, aged, and low income persons in disasters
  • Develop partnerships with faith based groups
  • Developing pet disaster preparedness plans to be incorporated into local emergency management plans

These 26 Citizen Corps Councils are organized into Citizen Corps Regions

Nebraska Citizen Corps councils will also be recruiting and training volunteers to participate in:

Community Emergency Response Training (CERT)

Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

Fire Corp

Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)

Neighborhood Watch/USA on Watch

Participation in these programs allows Nebraskans the opportunity and training to serve with medical professionals and public safety first responders, dealing with the aftermath of natural or man made disasters. If you are interested in serving with Nebraska Citizen Corps please contact:
