March 17, 2020

ServeNebraska would like to extend our thanks to those taking steps and precautions to minimize the spread of COVID-19. The health and wellbeing of our members and beneficiaries are of our utmost concern. This concern guides us when providing direction due to the change in AmeriCorps service projects and sites programming surrounding COVID-19.

In adherence to the direction provided by our federal and state government partners, our office personnel are working remotely and will not be traveling in or out of state until the executive order banning all out of state business travel has been rescinded.

We will be in regular communication with AmeriCorps Program Staff to ensure their questions and needs are being addressed in a timely manner. It is also our priority to communicate with ServeNebraska Commissioners to ensure that they are aware of our operations status as it pertains to programs and staff.  ServeNebraska, in cooperation with the ServeNebraska Executive Committee of the Commission, will be holding the quarterly Board meeting virtually April 17, 2020 from 1:30pm to 3:00pm CST.

Alternate Service

We encourage Nebraska AmeriCorps programs to consider alternative methods for AmeriCorps members to serve and continue to make a difference in their communities. AmeriCorps Programs are encouraged to be in frequent communication with ServeNebraska during this time to identify alternative plans for service. These plans should include information on how members will continue to serve hours during a possible site closure.  Please use the AmeriCorps grant modification form as a guide.

Please note that AmeriCorps Members and staff may not engage in any activity which is normally prohibited during AmeriCorps service.

Remember that now is an especially important time for everyone to find safe ways to continue making a difference in our communities. Thank you for all your hard work!
