AmeriCorps Week 2026: Celebrating Service Across Nebraska

Official State of Nebraska proclamation recognizing March 9–13, 2026 as AmeriCorps Week, signed by Governor Jim Pillen and the Nebraska Secretary of State.

March 9–13, 2026 marked AmeriCorps Week, a nationwide celebration recognizing the members, volunteers, and organizations that strengthen communities through national service. Across Nebraska, AmeriCorps programs, partners, and supporters came together to highlight the impact of service and the people behind it.

ServeNebraska was proud to celebrate the dedication of AmeriCorps members who serve communities across the state — supporting education, disaster response, public health, volunteer engagement, and many other critical needs.

A Week of Recognition and Impact

Throughout the week, ServeNebraska shared stories and highlights from AmeriCorps programs working across Nebraska. From service projects to community partnerships, the week offered an opportunity to recognize the everyday work happening in communities large and small.

A major highlight of the week was AmeriCorps Member Legislative Day, where members had the opportunity to connect with state leaders and share firsthand how national service strengthens Nebraska communities. These conversations help ensure policymakers understand the value AmeriCorps programs bring to the state.

In addition to member recognition, ServeNebraska also celebrated Partner Appreciation Day, recognizing the nonprofit organizations, community groups, and local leaders who make AmeriCorps service possible.

State Recognition

During AmeriCorps Week, the State of Nebraska issued an official proclamation recognizing AmeriCorps Week, acknowledging the contributions of AmeriCorps members and volunteers across the state. This recognition highlights the important role national service plays in addressing community needs and building stronger, more resilient communities.

Opportunities to Get Involved

AmeriCorps Week also served as an opportunity to highlight current and upcoming AmeriCorps funding opportunities for organizations interested in expanding service programs in Nebraska.

Organizations are encouraged to explore current opportunities available through AmeriCorps, including:

  • AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP
  • AmeriCorps VISTA concept paper opportunities

Looking Ahead

While AmeriCorps Week provides a moment to celebrate, the impact of service continues year-round. Across Nebraska, AmeriCorps members and volunteers remain committed to strengthening communities and addressing critical needs through service.

ServeNebraska looks forward to continuing to support programs and partners working to expand national service across the state.
