What is ServeNebraska?
ServeNebraska is the Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission. We coordinate community involvement by fellow Nebraskans to address the needs of our communities, and support community members in their volunteer efforts. ServeNebraska coordinates AmeriCorps programming, celebrates volunteer achievements through annual awards, and provides training and technical assistance for AmeriCorps programming.

In 1994, Governor Ben Nelson signed an Executive Order 94-5 which established the Nebraska Commission for National and Community Service. This was in accordance with the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993. The Commission's name has changed twice since then - to the Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission in 1999, and to ServeNebraska in 2008. The ServeNebraska Commission is comprised of up to 25 voting volunteer members, who are appointed by the Governor. This creates a commission of non-partisan, diverse citizens who reflect Nebraska’s unique identity..
